The Daily Mail just leaked unseen footage of the police bodycam the day of George Floyd’s death, and it is quite remarkable. The video shows George Floyd in distress and suffering from what appears to be a mental breakdown from the point of contact, long before he was down on the ground. The video also showed Floyd repeatedly resisting the officer’s commands. At one point, Floyd was placed in the back of the police car and he is heard saying he cannot breathe, while the police were not even touching him. He complained of claustrophobia and is then heard saying he wanted to be put on the ground. This obviously does not excuse Officer Derek Chauvin from putting his knee on Floyd’s neck for almost 9 minutes, but it does show a very different perspective of the arrest than what the public was originally led to believe. At the very least, this new footage may complicate the prosecution’s case against the officers in question. The video is below, you be the judge.
