When the toilet with the S trap was invented, the need to be able to unclog it was also invented. There were numerous ways to begin this process, but they all involved getting your hands dirty and wet with things you’d rather not mention. The only problem is that there really isn’t any information about who actually created the toilet plunger or even when it was invented. There are no patents beyond those of Samuel Prosser, back in 1777, regarding a plunger-like mechanism that is toilet-related.
In other words, no one really wants to take credit for their idea of plunging a toilet so that it can flush. What we can discuss here, however, is the work of Emanuel Torti since he received a patented for an improved toilet plunger in 1987 from the United States. Here is a look at some of his other work.
1. Trench Shoring
When building a trench, whether it is for irrigation or because of the need for a drain or retaining wall, there is one problem that exists: the walls eventually cave in. It doesn’t matter how deep the trench happens to be. Simple physics requires the dirty on the sides to tumble down into the trench and eventually no trench remains. Torti invented a series of trench shoring machines that would help to eliminate the need for repeated shoring or retaining walls that could create trenches much more effectively for a wide variety of purposes.
2. Trench Frames
When you’re building a trench, you’ll need to have a high quality shoring frame in order to help complete the project. Torti’s shoring frame helps to maintain the sidewalls in a spaced relationship so the thrust plates can be movable relative to each other. This allows the shoring frame to move along a trench and lets the jacks that create the movement be able to create a more adjustable trench that is based on local conditions.
3. Coupon Disbursement
Torti was also part of a team that helped to create an efficient method of advertising that connects buyers with sellers. By providing coupons and special deals to customers within a specific geographic system through proprietary filtering of the information that is available in public records, a customer and a salesman can have access to a national level of service providers that give more product access to everyone at large with ease of computerized implementation.
4. Open Spaces on Buildings
How can you create more rooms in a building that has a large open space? How can you then eliminate those rooms when you don’t need to have them any more? With the system of building arrangement that was developed, rails were used to create wall elevation that could be quickly and effectively installed so that walls instead of curtains could be utilized to create barriers. This gave the rooms better soundproofing so that they could be used for a wider variety of needs.
